Local stores
Elliott's in Folsom has the best (and most consistent) selection of GF products. Trader Joe's in Folsom has some things, but they discontinue items so you can't always count on them. Cameron Park Health Foods has a good selection of flours and some frozen items---when they have them in stock. Bel Air and Raley's has some GF items in their Natural Foods aisle, but the limited space forces them to rotate items---if you have a favorite, and it disappears, speak up! The Safeway in Cameron Park is doing better about carrying some flours, and they have a good selection on GF frozen waffles. Noah's Ark in Placerville has some basic staples, plus organic produce. Nugget Markets have an extensive health food section, so we are all eagerly awaiting the opening of the El Dorado Hills location. And, of course, Azna Gluten Free (and it's vegan) is right here in Cameron Park.

Nugget Market
Made it to the new Nugget Market, and found a lot of good things (5 different Amy's frozen meals I've never tried)but they still don't beat Trader Joe's on some of our staple items like natural soaps, detergents, and beer (didn't see GF beer, but it's for my hubbie anyway). Overall I would prefer them to Bel Air on selection, but their prices seemed higher. Impressed with their natural health and beauty section, and they have a lot of good items in bulk bins. Didn't make it to their meat or fish counter, too crowded that day. Their deli and takeaway section smelled wonderful but it looked like even their chicken items were not gluten free. Mixed bag overall, but maybe with some feedback and requests we can let them know there is a loyal GF population in the area.

Oli's Products
Come check out www.olisproducts.com. We currently offer a Sweet 'n Spicy sauce in a variety of heat levels and fruit flavors as well as homemade salsa and brownies. You can order online or call the phone number on the website. We'd be happy to arrange a local exchange. And if you've made a purchase previously return your jar and receive $1 off your next purchase.

CP Bel Air
Now that they're mostly finished with their remodel, I stopped by the Cameron Park Bel Air. Some GF items that are new, but a lot of old favorites missing. They didn't have any GF waffles, my breakfast staple. I made a big deal about it at the register, but the moral of the story seems to be that we will need to speak up if we want that store to continue to be a resource.

This comes from Melanie at Gluten-Free Specialty shop (J at 26th, Sacramento) 10/17/08: HAIN rice cakes now contain gluten (barley). The were previously listed (for several years) as gluten-free. The first case I was alerted of is the honey nut rice cakes. New bags state on the top left corner New Label & the ingredient list read malted barley.
